Sheriff’s office arrests two for drug trafficking in church parking lot

The Russell County Sheriff’s Office made a pair of arrests Sunday evening after deputies were called to investigate a suspicious person in a church parking lot.

According to Sheriff Derek Polston, deputies were called to the parking lot of Mt. Olive Church in the Sano community Sunday evening. Upon arrival, they found a man and woman with a 13-month-old child.

Thomas Gene Blackburn, age 39 of Russell Springs, was arrested by Deputy Corey Meyer and charged with trafficking in more than two grams of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to appear.

Madonna Ann Hall, age 34 of Russell Springs, was arrested by Deputy Nathan Bradshaw and charged with wanton endangerment first degree, trafficking in more than two grams of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both were lodged in the Russell County Detention Center at around 6:22 p.m. Sunday.

Charges will be presented to a grand jury where more charges are expected.
