Georgia School Superintendent Richard Woods visited Villa Rica Elementary School May 13 for a tour and visit with fourth grade students. Woods gave each fourth grader a book containing copies of the United States Constitution, the Declaration of Independence and other resources.

“It was an honor to welcome Superintendent Woods to Carroll County and Villa Rica Elementary today,” Carroll County School Superintendent Scott Cowart said. “We appreciate the way he interacted with our students and we are thankful for his support as we work to provide a premier education to our students.”

Kindergarten students greeted Woods by singing the National Anthem. Woods was joined at VRES by Georgia Senate Majority Leader Mike Dugan (R-30) and State Representative Jay Collins (R-68). Both Dugan and Collins also addressed the fourth graders, thanking them for a good year and wishing them a safe summer.

Before departing, Woods, Dugan and Collins toured a new 18-classroom addition now under construction to replace the oldest wing at Villa Rica Elementary. Furniture is already being moved into the new building, and the old wing will be razed this summer. Construction will be complete in time for classes in the fall.
