Retired Cookeville Police Captain Dies In Crash

The Cookeville Police Department is mourning the death of retired Captain Bobby Anderson who died following a motor vehicle crash on Friday, May 13, 2022. He was 50.  According to the Department’s Facebook page, at approximately 9:16 AM on Friday, officers of the Cookeville Police Department responded to the area of Buffalo Valley Road near Eagles Landing Drive in reference to a motor vehicle crash involving a motorcycle and a truck. Upon realizing that Captain Anderson was involved, the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) was asked to respond to conduct the investigation.

According to his obituary, Captain Anderson retired after a 30 year career serving in law enforcement. He began his career at the Livingston Police Department, where he worked for 10 years before moving to the Cookeville Police Department.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at Stevens Street Baptist Church. Interment with Police Honor Guard Honors will follow at Saylors Cemetery in White County. His family will receive friends Monday, May 16, 2022 from 4 – 8 p.m. at the church and again Tuesday from 9 a.m. until service time. Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
