ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — There is a chance for a few strong to severe thunderstorms Monday, so remember to stay weather aware.

Quiet weather is expected early Monday morning. Patchy fog is possible during the morning hours with temperatures starting in the 50s and 60s. Some sunshine is in the forecast with high temperatures in the 70s and 80s. It will be breezy during the day.

A cold front will push its way through Southwest and Central Virginia Monday. Showers and storms are possible, although not everyone will see the same intensity of rain or storm conditions. Downpours may occur. The warm and humid conditions will help some storms become strong to severe, especially east of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Gusty winds will be the main concern with stronger storms. However, quarter-size hail and isolated tornadoes cannot be ruled out. Remember to have at least two ways to receive storm warnings.

Most of the wet weather should be out of the region before the evening hours. Clearing skies will be overhead with lighter winds blowing through. Overnight lows will be in the upper 40s and into the middle 50s.

Tuesday will be sunny and mild. Mostly sunny skies will be overhead with lower humidity levels in the forecast. Highs will be in the mid-70s and into the mid-80s. Skies will remain mostly clear Tuesday evening with lows in the 50s.

Wednesday will start dry with high temperatures slated to reach the upper 70s and 80s. However, showers and storms will have the chance to move through Wednesday evening into Thursday morning. A few thunderstorms are possible Thursday afternoon, as well. High temperatures Thursday will range from the upper 70s to lower 80s across the mountains and upper 80s to low 90s in the Piedmont.
