Lipinski leading Onsted baseball and Lenawee County

Lincoln Lipinski likes pitching more than hitting. 

You wouldn’t know that by looking at his stats. 

The Onsted senior has made the list of Lenawee County leaders in nearly every category possible through about three quarters of the season. Lipinski thinks there is plenty more baseball in Onsted’s future. 

“We should go pretty far with our season,” Lipinski said. “We are doing well right now.” 

Lipinski is batting .468 with 29 hits, 26 RBIs, 24 runs scored and two home runs. He’s tied for the county lead in steals with 21. He bats third in Onsted’s powerful lineup. 

“I like batting third,” he said. “I’ve always batted second or third.” 

Lipinski has committed to playing college baseball at Adrian College next season. He worked with the coaching staff in the off-season on his pitching mechanics and it’s paid off.  

Onsted has the best winning percentage in the county at .857 and has 18 wins. They face off with Blissfield Tuesday in a doubleheader that will go a long way in determining the LCAA champion.  

Hudson has the most victories in the county with 19. Top Tiger Ambrose Horwath is batting .500 and leading the county in hits and RBIs. He also is tops in the county in pitching wins with seven.  

Horwath’s sister, Dinah Horwath, leads the county softball players in batting with a .532 average. She also tops county stat categories in hits and runs.

Joining Horwath, leading the way on the softball diamond at the plate is Tecumseh's Emma Newlove.

Newlove leads the county in RBIs with 33 and home runs with 31. She is also behind the plate for Tecumseh, directing the pitchers and defense as Tecumseh holds a county-best 18 wins.

In the circle, Clinton has a trio of starters, but freshman Taryn Hernandez leads the way with a county-best ERA of 1.63 while sophomore Kendall Phillip is second at 2.31. Junior Sydney Schuler also has solid ERA of 3.55.

Addison's Isabelle Patterson leads the county in strikeouts with 95.

On the soccer pitch, Clinton senior Madalyn Freitas is far and away the lead in goals with 53, giving her 178 for her career, making her one of the five best goal scorers in MHSAA history.

Lenawee Christian's Olivia Durbin is having a fantastic season as well as she has played a big role in the Cougars being on top of the Independent League Soccer standings. 

Durbin has 17 goals and has nine assists, tied for the most in the county with Tecumseh's Kylie Trevino.

In track and field, Tecumseh girls recently won the Southeastern Conference White Division championship.

Junior Jordyn Wright has played a big part in that as she is currently has the county's top height in the pole vault (11-feet-4-inches).

She is also part of the 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams who led the county at 51.87 and 1:47.18 respectively. The time of 1:47.18 in the 4x200 is the best in all of Division 2.

Tecumseh boys track as showed off its speed, especially with sprinter Gavin Chenevey.

Chenevey leads the county in the 100 (11.14) and the 200 (21.94) and is part of the 4x100 (43.27) and 4x200 (1:32.0) relay teams who also led the county.
