Second person arrested in connection to Zebulon robbery, homicide

The Zebulon Police Department announced Sunday that a second arrest had been made in a robbery and homicide that happened on West Barbee Street.

Porfirio Rodriquez, who also goes by Sasha, was killed inside an apartment there.

Police said Rodriquez's mother heard a gunshot and called 911. Officers arrived within minutes and performed CPR, however Rodriquez was pronounced dead when EMS arrived.

Undisclosed items were taken from the residence during the robbery and shooting.

Police believe the attack was targeted.

32-year-old Julius Antwan Smith is facing charges for conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Investigators said additional charges are expected.

30-year-old Ali Tariq Wiggins is also facing charges in connection to this case.

Wiggins has been charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery with a dangerous weapon.
