Trae Young and Luka Doncic's careers are forever tied at the hip. Ever since that fateful trade between the Atlanta Hawks and the Dallas Mavericks, they've been linked. When one player succeeds, the other will inevitably be brought down by other fans. It's the nature of sports discourse today, especially on social media.
And yet, for all the comparisons fans have between the Hawks and the Mavs stars, it's clear that both players have a ton of respect for each other. Case in point: Young's reaction to Luka Doncic popping off in Game 7 against the Suns. Ice Trae was pleasantly amused with the Slovenian superstar mean-mugging his opponents.

Last season, it was Young who was on top of the discourse, as he led the Atlanta Hawks to the Conference Finals. Meanwhile, Luka's Mavs failed to make it out of the first round yet again. There was significant chatter as to whether Young is the better player over Doncic.
This season, it's Doncic's time to shine. The Mavs star has been downright dominant throughout the entire playoffs for the team, scoring at will and making plays for his teammates on offense. His presence has revitalized the city, as they're gunning for their first championship in 11 years.
Luka Doncic was hailed as the greatest European prospect to ever set foot in the NBA. This early into his career, the Mavs star is already fulfilling his destiny. In a few years time, we will find ourselves in heated debates regarding Doncic's GOAT status in the league.
