PORTLAND, Ore. — Police searched southeast Portland’s Powellhurst-Gilbert neighborhood for a wanted suspect on Sunday afternoon after the person led police on a car chase.
The incident started at about 3:20 p.m. Sunday when a Portland Police sergeant tried to pull over the wanted person, who was driving in the 5700 block of Southeast 128th Avenue.
The suspect drove off and eventually stopped near Southeast 136th and Ramona Street, got out of the car, and ran.
"Evidence on scene lead officers to believe that the suspect may be armed. So the Crisis Negotiation Team, and SERT (Special Emergency Reaction Team) were called out. Did a block search, looking for the suspect," said an officer on scene, Derek Carmon.
Officers set up a perimeter from SE 134th and 140th avenues, and Ramona Street to the Springwater Trail.
Police have not released information about the suspect, including what charges they are wanted on.
