MONTMORENCY COUNTY, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Natural Resources has provided an update on the Blue Lake wildfire in Montmorency and Cheboygan Counties.
The wildfire is estimated at 2,710 acres with 60% contained as of Sunday afternoon, according to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.
Officials say over 30 DNR firefighters and additional staff from four local fire departments have worked throughout the weekend to contain the fire.
The cause of the wildfire was determined to be a lightning strike from a storm on May 11, according to DNR fire officers.
