A ninth-inning lead wasn’t enough for the Worcester Red Sox to snap their losing streak Sunday at Polar Park.
Zach Kelly allowed the game-tying run in the ninth and then gave up four more in the 10th as the WooSox dropped their 10th straight game, 7-4, to the Rochester Red Wings on Sunday at Polar Park.
Starter Connor Seabold tossed six scoreless innings for the WooSox (15-21), allowing one hit and one walk while striking out 11. He handed a 2-0 lead to the bullpen, but the Red Wings (24-12) immediately evened the score in the seventh on a two-run home run by Andrew Young off Durbin Feltman.
The WooSox loaded the bases in the bottom of the inning and took the lead back when Ryan Fitzgerald (2-for-4) was hit by a pitch with two outs, but the inning ended when Connor Wong flied out with three runners on.
In the ninth, Rochester loaded the bases and then scored on a passed charged to catcher Ronaldo Hernandez that scored Chris Hermann. Kelly ended the thread by getting Jake Noll to pop out, but the Red Wings took advantage of two walks, two hits and a throwing error to score four runs in the top of the 10th.
A Fitzgerald single scored Triston Casas (1-for-2, double, two walks) in the bottom of the 10th, but that was it for the WooSox.
