A mother said her teenage son was stabbed at a roller rink Friday night.
Nashaunda Brimage said she witnessed the incident when she picked up her 15-year-old son and her 8-year-old daughter.
Brimage said she saw a boy reach into his pocket and pull out what appeared to be a pocket knife. The boy then stabbed her son with it. She immediately called 911.
According to the New Bern Police Department, officers arrived at the skating rink on Neuse Blve shortly after 10 PM.
Officers believe the stabbing started as a fight between two juveniles.
Brimage said she is in disbelief that the stabbing happened at a place where young children frequent.
"I never expected to see nothing like this here," Brimage stated. "Being in a child's place, it's really sad. I am very happy that my son is alive. Otherwise, I don't know where I would be right now."
Police said Brimage's son was the only victim injured during the incident. He received treatment at CarolinaEast.
Brimage said her son was stabbed in his side. He received stitches and was released and doing well.
Rollerland declined to comment on the incident. Authorities are investigating.
