Over 6,000 Syracuse University graduates walked the stage today, congratulated by former SU graduate David Muir.
The World News Tonight anchor acknowledged the student’s perseverance through college despite a global pandemic, civil unrest, and political instability.
“You kept all the noise at bay, and you kept going,” the Syracuse native said.
“This right here is proof that you already have it within you. You’ve already been tested. You already kept going. You broke through it all here today. You’ve earned your place in this graduating class.”
Muir, a former reporter for Syracuse's WTVH (Now a part of CNY Central) is now an anchor and managing editor of “ABC World News Tonight.”
He shared his own experiences from his time at the university and onto his success. He encouraged graduates that they too can find their path even in the face of these challenges. That this is what makes society stronger.
"Honestly an enriched experience to find strength in times there is potentially darkness."
