The Atlanta Falcons are a team in transition. As a result, General Manager Terry Fontenot went out and added as much veteran talent as he could as the team develops through the draft. Lorenzo Carter, Casey Hayward, and Rashaan Evans headline that list for the defense. All three should be immediate contributors and each will play a major role in the success of the team. Tori McElhaney joined Nick Kayal to discuss these additions and why she's specifically looking at Casey Hayward.

"I just really loved that Casey Hayward signing," she said. "Because him on the opposite side of the field of A.J. Terrell is a very interesting pairing to watch."

The cornerback from Perry, GA will make an immediate impact for the Falcons' secondary that was in need of serious help. He's a versatile veteran with a pair of Pro Bowls under his belt that Terrell can lean on as a reliable number two corner. Hayward enjoyed a strong season in 2021 with the Las Vegas Raiders after five seasons with the Chargers.

"That's a really good duo at the cornerback position," McElhaney said. "And with Isaiah Oliver coming back (to the slot) at Nickel I think is going to be very good for that defensive back group."

Hayward brings a veteran savvy that was in need last year. Don't be surprised if this unit takes a giant leap forward in 2022.
