Salem Police and Fire called to help free six-year-old from handcuffs around his ankles

Both the Salem Police and Fire Departments were called out Saturday night to a home on East Bryan Street to help free a six-year-old from a pair of handcuffs he had placed around his ankles.

Salem Police say the keys had apparently been lost and his parents called for help when they couldn’t get them off.   Police say none of their handcuff keys would work and their metal cutters were too small to cut the handcuffs.

That led to the Salem Fire Protection being called.   A member of the department had some other small keys, one of which was able to open the handcuffs and free the boy who was not injured in the incident.
