Kelly Ripa gave an update on her health when she phoned into “Live with Kelly and Ryan” from isolation last Tuesday. The star told her co-host and fans she’s “really bummed out” about her recent COVID diagnosis—and we don’t blame her!

“I feel fine,” Ripa, 51, told Ryan Seacrest and guest host Ali Wentworth, who was taking her place on the show for the time-being. “I’m just irritated, Ali, as I’m sure you know.”

Despite Ripa’s health precautions and relatively low COVID rates across the United States, the host still caught the virus, to her dismay. “You can be as careful as you want,” she said. “Somehow, it found a way. I’m just really bummed out.” We feel so bad for her!

Ripa was also sure to make it clear that she did not contract COVID by from her children (Michael, 24, Joaquin, 19, and Lola, 20) while celebrating Mother’s Day with them last Sunday. “My kids did not give me COVID,” she replied when questioned by Wentworth. “I had the most wonderful Mother’s Day ever.”

Ripa told her followers she tested positive for COVID via her Instagram story last Monday night. “Hey there, Unfortunately, I tested positive for COVID this weekend, but thankfully I am fully vaccinated and boosted, and today’s show was already pre taped last week,” she wrote over a photo of flowers, coffee, pastries, and cards—likely all Mother’s Day gifts. “I am taking all necessary precautions and looking forward to returning to normal life as soon as the standard quarantine time is over,” she assured fans.

“On a lighter note,” she added to the caption, “I did receive the peace and quiet I requested for Mother’s Day.”

The Cheaper By The Dozen star made a similar joke when speaking to Seacrest and Wentworth via phone, restating that she got the gift she asked for. “I jokingly wished for keeping quiet for Mother’s Day,” she said. “All you need is COVID and they will leave you alone.” That’s one positive way to look at things!

On Tuesday’s show, Ripa went on to recount the moment she told her children she had tested positive for the virus. She joked that they “fled like rats on a sinking ship” once they found out about the diagnosis. “They were like, ‘Get me out of here! I can’t get it!'”

During the actress's required isolation time, she says she's been doing a lot of "pacing around" and catching up on current events by watching Morning Joe. "I haven't watched anything in a very long time so I'm catching up on everything I've missed," Ripa explained. Although it doesn't sound like the most exciting time, at least she's making good use of it!

We're wishing Ripa a speedy recovery so she can get back to hosting alongside Seacrest ASAP. Get well soon!
