Marco Rose praised Youssoufa Moukoko after his match-winning goal for Borussia Dortmund on Saturday, but added that the 17 year old needs to develop in certain areas in order to get more playing time.

Youssoufa Moukoko made his mark for Borussia Dortmund on Saturday as he came off the bench and scored the winner just two minutes later against Hertha Berlin. It was an excellent first-time finish from the 17 year old, who has had to endure a difficult first full season in professional football.

Injuries have prevented Moukoko from making the progress he would have liked this season. Despite making 24 appearances this season, he has been limited to just 482 minutes of playing time.

Moukoko’s lack of playing time has put his Borussia Dortmund future in doubt, with reports claiming that he is looking to leave the club this summer. The highly rated striker’s contract with the Black and Yellows is set to expire at the end of next season. And Real Madrid are said to be keeping tabs on him.

Marco Rose spoke about Moukoko’s season and his future during his post-match press conference on Saturday. The BVB head coach called Moukoko a ‘huge talent,’ but he also left the Germany U-21s international’s future open.

"“I think that Mouki is not satisfied with the season as a whole, or with his playing time – which he has already made known. I’ve always said that I see him as a huge talent. But he still has to develop further in certain areas.”“If he stays healthy next year and we continue on this path together, I believe he will take those steps. He’s already proven that as we know, and he showed that again (against Hertha) after coming off the bench.”"

Saturday’s goal was Youssoufa Moukoko’s second of the season. He also has two assists to his name in 16 Bundesliga matches this season. While this season did not go according to plan for the striker, he still has incredible potential. And the hope will be that he can stay at Borussia Dortmund beyond the end of the season.
