Last season was up and down for the Auburn Tigers under first-year head coach Bryan Harsin. The Tigers started the year 6-2, with both losses coming against teams that were ranked inside the top ten at the time. Auburn then lost its final four games of the regular season, though, and lost in the Birmingham Bowl to reach 6-7 in the first year under Harsin.

After an eventful offseason, Harsin now has his eyes on the future. He just broke down where the program is at entering the summer months, touching on the team’s progress on the recruiting trail.

“After spring number one, we did our evaluations with our players and they had to finish up finals,” Harsin said on McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning. “So all those things went well. Now the coaches for the first time are on the road, getting a chance to get with all the coaches. We hit Alabama, we’re into Georgia at this point and that’s been a positive for us. I think getting players on campus, that’s been the goal. As many times as we can, even to the same guy. If we can just get guys on campus, that’s going to help us. So we’ve been really working hard on that.”

Harsin on Auburn’s schedule over the summer months

Harsin and Auburn are already bringing in a top 20 recruiting class in 2022, but the Tigers are looking to continue that success on the recruiting trail for years to come. That is a big emphasis over the summer for Harsin, and the schedule is never-ending in the months leading up to fall camp.

“Our coaches do a great job of talking with the coaches, getting the players on campus,” said Harsin. “Then I get a chance to see them and sit down with them. So from that standpoint, I like where we’re at. That’s going to have to continue through this month. We’ll do some official visits, and then we’ll have some more official visits in June but that’s when the camps kick in and we’ll get as many guys to our camps as we can. We want to see those guys compete, we also want to be around them. So it’s going to be a busy month in May, it’s going to be a busy month in June, little time off when it goes dead in July, and then we pick back up in July before fall camp.”
