Hundreds of people took over Lady Bird Lake to participate in the 2022 Paddle for Puppies event Sunday morning.
The annual fundraiser encourages dog owners to hop on their kayak, canoe, or standup paddleboard (SUP) with their four-legged friends at the Rowing Dock and paddle down LBL.
All proceeds from Paddle for Puppies, which is sponsored by Austin Subaru and hosted by Rowing Dock, will benefit the Parvo Puppy ICU program at Austin Pets Alive!
Registration for the event opened at 6:45 a.m. Paddle time ran from 8-9:45 a.m.
A Paddle for Puppies T-shirt was also provided at registration.
According to an APA! spokesperson, 963 puppies were saved in 2021 and so far the Parvo ICU has treated about 300 in the first quarter of 2022.
Last month, over 50 puppies that had been treated in the Parvo Puppy ICU were adopted within one week.
