Talking with ‘Scream’ star Jamie Kennedy, William Shatner’s neighbor at comic con

NOVI, MI - He barely survived the first “Scream” film, only to be killed in the second. Should we have said spoiler alert? I mean, that was the 90s. We caught up with actor Jamie Kennedy at Motor City Comic Con taking place all weekend at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi.

Kennedy is part of a “Scream” reunion with Skeet Ulrich and Michigan native Matthew Lillard at the event which is full of celebrities, cosplayers, artists and vendors and more.

Kennedy is also known for his hidden camera show, “The Jamie Kennedy Experiment.” He’s pulled off a lot of pranks on unsuspecting people over the years and says he really enjoyed paying homage to “Candid Camera.”

“Definitely Alan Funk was one of my heroes growing up,” he told MLive. “I loved “Candid Camera.” I saw it as a young child on CBS Sunday Nights. I just love watching people when they don’t know what’s going on.”

Kennedy died on screen in the original “Scream” back in the late 90s and there’s probably no chance we’ll ever see him in the franchise again. Right?

“I mean, why not? Skeet came back as like, a spirit or something. Why not bring me back in “Stab.” Right now, I’m dead, that’s what I know. “Scream” has gone beyond the movie. It’s like a lifestyle. People are so cool. They bring me things to sign that I never knew existed.”

And that’s when he couldn’t wait to reveal who his comic con neighbor was behind the curtain separating the two, which you can see in our video interview with him above.

“We’ve got a super legend right here, so maybe when I’m older, I’ll still be doing this. People come to see me, but I’m also a fan. Captain James Kirk. Right there (he pointed). Hopefully that doesn’t put a dent in my sales (he joked).”
