Gray Hits Home Run in Matchup with (RV) Louisiana Tech

5/14/2022 8:08:00 PM | Baseball

RUSTON, La. – WKU Baseball fell to (RV) Louisiana Tech, 7-2, on Saturday afternoon at Pat Patterson Park.

The Hilltopper offense was held in check through seven innings, not getting on the board until a solo shot by Jackson Gray in the top of the eighth.

"When you give a good team an error or an extra base they're going to take advantage of it," said head coach John Pawlowski. "I thought Louisiana Tech did that today. It started off with the very first hitter of the game where a guy turned a single into a double. That's a frustrating thing. These guys have to learn that if you're going to play with the best teams in the country and the best teams in our league, there's so many things that we have to talk about and clean up. Good teams take advantage of that stuff."

Luke Stofel earned the starting nod on the mound for the Hilltoppers, allowing four runs while recording three strikeouts in 3.2 innings of work. WKU utilized Lane Diuguid, Cole Heath and Hunter Crosby from there, with the trio combining to allowing three runs while striking out five batters in 4.1 frames.

At the plate, the Hilltoppers tallied four hits and three walks. Gray, Andrew Delaney, Tristin Garcia and Matthew Meyer all recorded hits in the contest, with Gray collecting his sixth home run of the season.
