The Pittsburgh Steelers might have found some impact players in the 2022 NFL Draft. Here are the best and worst traits of each draft pick.

Whether you were a fan of each of Pittsburgh’s 2022 NFL Draft selections or not, it’s hard not to get excited about a new era in the Steel City. In the coming years, the Steelers will have a new face of the franchise in a quarterback who likes to extend the play while some explosive, young receivers could add a much-needed flair to this offense.

Obviously, each of these draft selections has their strengths and weaknesses. After watching a good deal of tape on each of them, here are their best and worst traits that may follow them in their NFL careers:

Steelers QB Kenny Pickett

Best trait: Passing in the middle of the field, extending the play

Kenny Pickett has a few things that he does remarkably well. He was one of the best quarterbacks in college football in 2021 when passing over the middle of the football field (both in terms of attempts and completions in this department. This is something that good quarterbacks must be able to do in the NFL.

In addition, Pickett is a playmaker outside of the pocket — particularly when rolling to his right. His Though he was aided by a great offensive line at Pitt, his ability to extend the play will get him out of a lot of jams.

Worst trait: Throwing outside the hashes, ball security

If you look at Pickett’s heat map (indicating his pass attempts and effectiveness on certain areas of the field) he was ice cold when throwing to the sidelines. This is something he will really need to work on at the next level, as he just didn’t do this on a consistent enough basis compared to other college quarterbacks. Pickett also had a whopping 38 fumbles in college, and ball security could be an issue at the next level.
