Reminder: Polk County attorney candidates set to debate at Drake University May 24

Des Moines Register

Tickets are still available for a debate of candidates for Polk County attorney at Drake University on May 24, two weeks before the June 7 primary election.

The Des Moines Register and the Drake University Law School are sponsoring the debate in the race, which is among the most consequential for Polk County voters in this year's primary. They will be choosing a replacement for longtime incumbent John Sarcone, a Democrat, who is retiring after having held the office unchallenged since 1991.

Three Democrats are seeking the nomination in the primary: Kimberly Graham, Kevin McCarthy and Laura Roan. The winner will face Republican Allan Richards in the Nov. 8 general election.
