Stockton woman dies after SUV crashes into pond near Oakdale
An 18-year-old woman from Stockton died on Friday after losing control of an SUV and driving into a pond along the Stanislaus River near Oakdale, the California Highway Patrol said.
The crash happened at Orange Blossom Road and Bonson Court, according to the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff’s office said the first report of the crash came at about 3:15 p.m.

When first responders arrived at the scene of the crash, they found the SUV partially submerged in a pond south of the roadway.
Two people were inside of the SUV at the time of the crash, including the 18-year-old Stockton woman and a passenger.
The Stockton woman was airlifted to a nearby medical center, where she later died of her injuries. The passenger, described by authorities as a 20-year-old woman from Oakdale, was taken to Memorial Medical Center with minor injuries.
The CHP said both women were wearing seatbelts. It is currently unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
The CHP also said they do not know at this time of the investigation if the Stockton woman died from drowning or another factor related to the crash.
Neither women’s names have been released. No other vehicles or people were involved in the accident.
