Welsh National Opera Youth Opera Announces 2022 Slate & Casts

The Welsh National Opera Youth Opera has announced its cast for its 2022 productions.

First up will be Judith Weir’s “The Black Spider.”

The work will star Tomo Jones and Mica Smith as Count Heinrich; Ffion Morgan Short and Rhianna Hogg as Christina; Euan McEvoy as Carl; and Owen Parson and Toben Durrant sharing the role of Casper. Dan Perkin will conduct with Rhian Hutchings directing.

Performance Date: May 28 & 29, 2022

The second production of the season will be “Cherry Town, Moscow” by Shostakovich. This work will star Dafydd Allen as Boris, Tuslaite as Lidochka, Rhydian Jenkins as Sergei, Emily Rooke as Lucy, Mica Smith as Drebednyov, Morgana Warren-Jones as Vava, HoWang Tuen as Sasha, Lowri Probert as Masha, Tomo Jones as Semyon, and Jared Michaud as Barabashkin. Alice Farnham conducts a production that will be directed by Daisy Evans.

Performance Date: Oct. 9, 2022
