James W. “Jim” Cavins Sr., age 80 of Salem, passed away at Union County Hospital in Anna on Friday, May 13, 2022.
Jim was born on July 11, 1941 in Salem, the son of James W. “J.W.” and Martha (Guymon) Cavins.
He is survived by four children, Lisa Childers and husband Rick of Mt. Vernon, James Cavins Jr. of Salem, Michelle Hill of Centralia, and Jason Cavins and wife Kelly of Salem; five grandchildren, Daniele Mick and husband Chris, Derick Childers and wife Jaime, Townsend Hill, Emma Cavins, and Allie Cavins; and four great-grandchildren, Teagan, Jesse, and Adelin Childers, and Clayton Mick.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jim retired from the Union Pacific Railroad after many years as a mechanic. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and enjoyed fishing and ham radio.
