Firefighters battled a forest fire Saturday at Crawford Notch.Bethlehem fire said they helped multiple other departments starting at 11:42 a.m. in the area of Arethusa Falls.Bethlehem fire posted on Facebook the fire is contained for now due to a thunderstorm.Firefighters are done for the night and will return to the site in the morning, according to Bethlehem fire. The New Hampshire Forest Rangers named the fire the Bemis Fire. They are working with Bartlett Fire dept. and the White Mountain National Forest. Conway Fire Chief Stephen Solomon called the forest fire "major" Saturday afternoon.The U.S. Forest Service said they are monitoring the situation, according to spokesperson Colleen Mainville.Mainville said they believe the fire is within Crawford Notch and is currently on New Hampshire state land.
