The main source of intrigue around the 2022 New York Giants will be their young players. In particular, rookies Kayvon Thibodeaux and Evan Neal will attract all the attention as Big Blue looks to get better in the trenches. However, the big boys on the line may overshadow the production that their new offensive weapon could bring.

The selection of Wan'Dale Robinson with the 43rd overall selection was a surprising one. The undersized wider receiver is joining an offense that looked lifeless last season and is losing receiving options, both to free agency and injuries.

Robinson has a lot to prove but he has the talent to prove it and establish himself under new head coach Brian Daboll. The Giants could get massive value from their rookie wide receiver in the 2022 NFL season.

Giants Rookie Sleeper for 2022 NFL Season

There are two key reasons why Robinson could have a strong rookie season with the Giants. One, he is an electrifying player whose game could translate well to the professional level. Two, he will have the opportunity to play a lot for a depleted Giants receiving core.

Robinson demolished his opposition at Kentucky. His 1,334 receiving yards and 104 catches each ranked second in the SEC while his seven receiving touchdowns ranked tied-for-10th in the conference. Only Jameson Williams had more receiving yards than him among receivers in the conference.

Standing at just 5-foot-8 at the combine certainly made him stand out. But Robinson will also stand out when he separates himself from defenders in the open field.

Robinson's game-breaking speed and experience playing running back in the past could earn him a very versatile role. The Giants' new offensive coordinator, Mike Kafka, spent years working with Tyreek Hill and transforming him into a superstar. Robinson almost certainly won't be as good as him but Kafka could use him in a somewhat similar way.

Daboll should be able to figure out how to use him best. The Giants will have a need for a wide receiver this season. With Sterling Shepard out with an Achilles tear, Kenny Golladay and Kadarius Toney are the two main wideouts. They both suffered injuries last season. Robinson could thrive as a slot receiver if both can stay healthy. If not, he will get even more of a chance to shine.

Yes, Robinson is small and extremely skinny. The adjustment to the professional competition will be something he has to overcome. If he lines up against a physical cornerback, gaining separation may be tough. For a player of his size, not gaining separation could take him out of plays. Above all, though, he is tough and very talented. Daboll may have to focus on using him in sweeps or short routes to ensure he can get the ball. Once he does, he will torment defenses.

Robinson could be the next mid-round rookie wide receiver to step up immediately. because of his talents and the opportunity in front of him, the Giants' rookie sleeper could very well be their shifty wide receiver.
