A father and son were both arrested on Friday this week after a search warrant for the son's home revealed the duo operating an illegal marijuana grow from their houses in Shingletown.
Officials with the Shasta County Sheriff's Office said their Marijuana Eradication Team (MET) served a search warrant at a home, and associated property, on the 7500 block of Fisher Lane on May 13. When they arrived, they were able to detain both James Edward Tony Jr., 34, and Tony Sr., 61, without incident, as well as turn over Tony Jr.'s two children to Shasta County Children and Family Services.
SCSO determined Tony Sr. and Jr. were working together to cultivate marijuana at both of their homes right across the street from each other.
SCSO's MET crew found over 1,300 actively growing cannabis plants. The plants were found in four different greenhouse-style structures and Toney Sr.'s garage. In the report, SCSO noted the plants were in various stages of growth, indicating the operation was continuous. The MET officers would also find a 9mm handgun inside Toney Sr's home.

MET also reported finding over 120 pounds of processed marijuana, two loaded handguns, a rifle, body armor, and ammunition—all with easy access to the children in the house.
