D.C. Police have located and charged a parent of a young boy found in a garage of a northeast grocery store Friday night.
The Metropolitan Police Department said a 3-year-old boy named "Jamari" emerged from a black Chevy Malibu parked in the Giant garage in the 300 block of H Street NE around 8:48 p.m. The car had unknown Maryland temporary tags.
The child was left unattended in the vehicle and exited without the parent's knowledge, according to a police report.
Authorities say an MPD officer was flagged by a concerned citizen in regards to a child wandering the underground parking lot -- The MPD officer then made contact with the child who was by himself with no adult present. The MPD officer then escorted the 3-year-old upstairs to customer service to make attempts to find the child-parent or guardian multiple times over the store intercom but no one answered or showed up for the child, police said.
After no guardian was found, CFSA responded to the scene and took the child to 200 I St SE. Police said the child appeared to be in good health.
Saturday morning, MPD said a parent of the child, 27-year-old Bria Dudle, of Southeast D.C. was located and charged with second-degree cruelty to children.
