The New York Rangers are going back home to play Game 7 after clawing back from a 2-0 deficit in Game 6 and a 3-1 series hole against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Mika Zibanejad exploded for 2 goals and 1 assist to match his entire points output through the first 5 games of this series. His best friend and linemate Chris Kreider recorded 2 goals, including the game-winner with 1:28 left to play in the game.

However, it was a funny moment on the bench that seems to be garnering a lot of attention this morning.

The New York Rangers were all tied at 2 after Zibanejad’s two big blasts scored just 1:16 apart early in the second period.

However, Zibanejad was soon called for a delay-of-game penalty when he shot the puck over the glass which was followed by a Kevin Rooney tripping call 53 seconds later.

It was a huge moment in the game as the Rangers killed the two-man advantage for the Penguins. As Mika’s penalty expired he was set up for a breakaway out of the box but missed on the backhand ringing it off the iron.

That’s when cameras caught Chris Kreider grab an iPad out of Mika’s hands and smash it to the ground.

After the game, reporters asked what that was all about and Mika laughingly looked over to Kreider saying, “Go ahead [and answer], you f**king threw it.”

Kreider shook his head smiling at Mika’ response and provided his reasoning for the grab and smash.

“He was looking at the breakaway and I heard him start second guessing his move and I didn’t really like that,” Kreider admitted. “He beat him clean, hit the post. No need to second guess.”

On the Sportsnet broadcast, Mika was interviewed by Carolina Cameron who asked if Kreider owed him a new iPad.

“No. He’s going to have to talk the team about that,” Zibanejad joked. “He didn’t want me to look at the breakaway I missed out of the box. He wanted me focused on going for the next one. He’s a good teammate.”

The New York Rangers head coach was made aware of the comical incident after the game.

“I didn’t notice that,” Gerard Gallant said with a good laugh. “The guys are looking at those iPads all the time. It would drive me crazy if I was still playing.”

The New York Rangers and Pittsburgh Penguins play Game 7 on Sunday night at 7:00 PM ET.
