Three Louisiana motorcycle riders hit by pickup driver, killed Thursday

Pickup going wrong way hit riders on I-40 near Dyer, police report

The names of three people from Louisiana killed Thursday on Interstate 40 near Dyer when a pickup driver hit the group of riders, have been released by the Arkansas State Police.

Patricia Lemar, 44, passenger, and Leonard Lemar Jr., 46, driver, both of Slidell, Louisiana were killed. Malinda Shano, 50, Terryton, Louisiana, also died.

They were struck by a wrong-way driver about 6:10 p.m. Thursday in the westbound lanes of Interstate 40 at mile marker 21 near Dyer in Crawford County.

The pickup driver, identified as Ivan Santos, 29, of Norman, Oklahoma, was driving east in the westbound lane of I-40 when the pickup struck a group of seven westbound motorcycles, the patrol said.  Pickup passenger Amber Rodgers, 37, of Virginia Beach, Virginia was also injured.

Other riders were injured.

The injured riders included: Jennifer Couvillion, 42, of Lafitte, Louisiana; Robert Day, 44, of Gretna, Louisiana; Larry Alexie, 42, of Lafitte, Louisiana; Derrick Reynolds, 49, of Slidell, Louisiana. Those injured were taken to a Fort Smith Mercy and Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, the state police reported.
