Bruce, there it is.

Today, Vancouver Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin announced the return of head coach Bruce Boudreau behind the Canucks’ bench next season.

“We are pleased to see Bruce’s commitment to return to the Canucks next season,” said Allvin. “He has done a great job since arriving in Vancouver and we are eager to see the team continue to perform under his leadership as they did during the second half of the season.”

Boudreau was hired at the beginning of December after the Canucks cleaned house and turned the club’s season around quite drastically, leading them to a 32-15-10 record during his tenure, coming up just short of qualifying for the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The terms of the second year of Boudreau’s contract were already set when he signed back in December, but the contract had both a club and coach opt-out option for the second season, with the Canucks making it clear they would like to have Boudreau back for the second year of that deal.

“My desire has always been to come back to coach this team,” said Boudreau. “I love the organization, city, fans, and the players. I’m also grateful for the opportunity provided to me by Jim and Patrik to continue building what we started.”

More to come.
