Modern Family actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson has spoken for the very first time about a spinoff.
Sadly though, the proposed continuation of this sitcom universe was ultimately scrapped by ABC, as he revealed on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen this week.
"There were discussions and I think the network decided against it," he told the talk show host.

"I think they were just wondering if maybe this is the right family to still tell the story. I think they were – you know, we'd been on air for 11 years and I think they were ready to move in a different direction."
The spinoff would've seemingly caught up with Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet's characters Mitchell Pritchett and Cameron Tucker as they embarked on a new adventure in Missouri with their two kids.
Modern Family fans will recall Cam accepting a college football coaching position in the state during the 11th season.

Back in 2020, co-creator Christopher Lloyd suggested that the door is very much open concerning a revisit.
"That could be a year from now, we catch up with one or two or three people and then other characters from the show perhaps drop in," he teased. "It could be something like that. But I don't want to suggest that that's a real thing, because it isn't yet.
"It's a thing we knock around."
Mitch and Cam's proposed spinoff joins the likes of Springfield, Marvel's Most Wanted, The Farm and Prison Break: Cherry Hill on the list of TV spinoffs that never made it into production.
Modern Family aired on ABC in the US and Sky One/NOW TV in the UK.
