Joel Armia starts the World Championship in style

MONTREAL -- Josh Anderson, Joel Armia and Sean Farrell played their first games of the 2022 IIHF World Championship on Friday.

Here's a recap of their respective performances in Finland:
FINLAND 5 - NORWAY 0
Armia enjoyed a memorable World Championship debut with a two-point showing on home soil.
He began with a beautiful assist on a goal by Harri Pesonen late in the first period. That tally proved to be the game-winner.

Then he added his first snipe of the tournament, blasting a shot past goaltender Henrik Haukeland on the power play early in the third.

The Pori native earned Player of the Game honors for the Finns, amassing five shots on goal and a plus-1 differential in 17:51 of action.
CANADA 5 - GERMANY 3
Anderson assisted on the game's opening goal by Cole Sillinger in the first period.

He registered one shot on goal and a plus-one differential in 15:29 of ice time for Claude Julien's contingent.
Pierre-Luc Dubois scored a pair of goals for Canada. Kent Johnson and Noah Gregor lit the lamp as well.
USA 4 - LATVIA 1
Farrell was held without a point in the Americans' triumph.
The 20-year-old forward collected one shot on goal and logged 10:31 of ice time.
Riley Barber, Seth Jones, Thomas Bordeleau and Sam Lafferty scored for Team USA.
Defenseman Jordan Harris didn't dress.
WHAT'S NEXT?
Goaltender Frederik Dichow and Denmark battle Kazakhstan at 5:20 a.m. ET on Saturday.
Armia and Finland will also play Latvia at 1:20 p.m. ET.
