Hollyoak's Wendy Blissett has found herself one step away from making her escape with Mercedes' son, Bobby. And she might have roped an unwitting Mercedes into helping her.

This Friday's first-look episode (May 13) revealed Wendy's plans to smuggle Bobby Costello out of the country — using blackmail money taken from his own mother.

Following Mercedes McQueen being discovered while attempting to reconnect with her son through a Love Actually moment that had her using cue cards behind a window to express her love, the mother found herself in the dark about her son's whereabouts.

The episode started with Mercedes shuttered as she made call after call trying to locate her son. However, she soon found that both his and Wendy's phones were unreachable.

In her attempt to find them, she was also shocked to discover from an estate agent that Wendy had moved from her house "ages ago".

"How could she move Bobby to another address without telling me?" she exclaimed.

However, when Wendy finally allowed herself to be found and agreed to a meeting, Mercedes was in for another surprise: she would get her son back if she paid up.

Wendy admitted that she would be okay with releasing Bobby back to his mother's care, but she had to be compensated for the cost of taking care of him for the past weeks.

Wendy then demanded £5,000 delivered to her within a day.

"5k and I leave you and Bobby alone for good," she promised — but was she telling the truth?

While Mercedes remained distrustful, and for good reason, Goldie convinced her that finding the money might be for the best, as it would put Wendy and the whole ordeal behind them.

Unfortunately for both, in the last moments of the episode, Wendy was seen speaking to Silas on the phone, revealing her true plans — smuggling the kid outside the country.

"She's literally paying us to take him off her hands," she said. "Either way, it's bye bye, Hollyoaks. Forever."

Will Mercedes realise Wendy's scheme in time?
