Anthony Rizzo is back in the Windy City. And he’s done holding a grudge.
Rizzo had a chip on his shoulder following last year’s trade from the Chicago Cubs to the New York Yankees.

After all, Rizzo, was a four-time Gold Glove Award winner and three-time All-Star who led the Cubs to an historic win in the 2016 World Series.
But in the what-have-you-done-for-me-lately world of Major League Baseball, none of that mattered to the Cubs, who risked Rizzo walking away after the 2021 season as a free agent.
Now, some nine months after the trade, Rizzo made his much-anticipated return to Chicago as the Yankees visit the Chicago White Sox this weekend for a four-game series. And Rizzo said he’s made his peace with the trade. Per the Chicago Sun-Times and Chicago Tribune:
“Now that it has happened, I’m very happy with where I’m at. ... I don’t think it was ever necessarily (acrimonious). It’s business. ... They had to make tough business decisions. As a human being, was I pissed off? Of course. But as a baseball player who sees what happens and (knows) this is a business, that’s the way it is. As far as hashing it out, I don’t think there’s much to hash out. ... I wish them well.”

After flirting with signing free agent Freddie Freeman and pondering a trade for Matt Olson, the Yankees re-signed Rizzo in March, giving him a two-year, $32 million contract. And Rizzo is more than living up to the deal so far. This season, he’s tied for third in the majors with nine home runs and tied for 10th with 30 RBI.
