Former State Rep. Karl Van Roy has died

(WLUK) -- A former Green Bay-area lawmaker and area restaurant owner passed away this week.

Former state Representative Karl Van Roy died Tuesday at the age of 83.
Van Roy served in the Wisconsin State Assembly from 2003 until his retirement in 2013.
He also owned and operated River's Bend Supper Club for 24 years, served as president of the Howard-Suamico Optimist Club for 48 years and served in the U.S. Army.
Rep. John Macco released the following statement on Van Roy's passing:
I am saddened to hear of former Representative Karl Van Roy’s recent passing and my prayers are with his family through this time. For five terms, Representative Van Roy served the Green Bay community as an honorable public servant in Madison. Though we did not serve together in the legislature, as a lifetime resident of the Green Bay area, I am thankful for his leadership and dedication to our community throughout his life.

According to his obituary, his funeral is set for Tuesday, May 17 in Green Bay.
