A Bangor woman accused of giving her 2-year-old Narcan after the child got into drugs in the home is facing multiple charges.
According to the Bangor Daily News, 28-year-old Jessica Shepard was charged with domestic violence reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon and endangering the welfare of a child on Wednesday.
The Penobscot County district attorney told the paper the case will put the state’s good Samaritan law to the test. It’s an extension of existing law that protects those who report overdoses from prosecution for most nonviolent crimes.
Shepard is being held at Penobscot County Jail and faces up to a year in prison and a $2,000 fine on each count.
