Dog found with hair tie around muzzle recovering at Cincinnati animal shelter
CINCINNATI (WXIX) - A dog found with a hair tie around her muzzle was taken to Cincinnati Animal CARE by a Good Samaritan for treatment.
The hair tie caused Tiffany to suffer deep wounds and severe swelling. The cut left by the hair tie went down to the bone, the shelter said.
“Our on-site medical staff went to work to remove the hair tie and repair her wounds. She is resting comfortably tonight and already eating like a champ! She’s being fostered by a member of our medical team and we’ll continue to keep you updated on her progress,” they posted on Facebook.

Cincinnati Animal CARE Community Engagement Manager Ray Anderson says Tiffany was roaming the streets of Lockland before being brought in.
Anderson says Tiffany’s muzzle was growing around the hair tie.
He says he thinks someone intentionally placed the hair tie around Tiffany’s muzzle.
“Possibly somebody put it on there to keep her mouth shut,” Anderson explained. “We would certainly advice that anybody that thinks that’s something that’s going to fix any behavior, that is not going to fix the behavior, and it’s going to hurt the dog.”
Tiffany does have a bright future ahead of her, Anderson says.
“It’s not doom and gloom here, it’s not all bad,” Anderson says. “The good far outweighs the bad, but when cases like this come in, yea, we want people to know.”
Tiffany is now eating and playing while recovering in foster care.
Cincinnati Animal CARE is asking anyone with information on Tiffany’s condition to contact the Hamilton County Dog Wardens at 513-541-7387.
Cincinnati Animal CARE is hosting the Bissell Pet Foundation’s Empty the Shelters event, now through 6 p.m. Sunday. During the event, adoption fees are waived for cats and dogs who are older than six months and weigh more than 25 pounds.
Tiffany is not up for adoption.
