BUFFALO TWP., Wis. (KWNO)-Authorities responded to a hold-up alarm and shots fired call at a Buffalo County tavern early Friday morning.

A press release from the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Department says 26-year-old Shakuur Kroll and 21-year-old Artanya Engel, both of Black River Falls, Wis, were jailed on suspicion of Operating a Firearm While under the influence of an intoxicant, Endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon and first-degree reckless driving by endangering safety.

Officials say their investigation so far indicates Kroll pulled out a handgun and fired two rounds at three males he had gotten into a verbal altercation with outside of the tavern, identified by Winona Police as George’s Lounge. Investigators say none of the rounds struck the three individuals.

Kroll initially fled the scene before returning to collect evidence that would link him to the shooting, the release says. Kroll then fled east on Hwy. 35/54 before being apprehended in Trempealeau County.

The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate. The Winona Police Department and Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Department.
