Ukrainian Pianist Irena Portenko to Present ‘From Georgia With Love’ Benefit Concert

Ukrainian Pianist Irena Portenko will join forces with four artists to present “From Georgia With Love” on May 18, 2022.

The performance, which will take place at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall.

Portenko will be joined by Georgian baritone Gocha Abuladze as well as tenor Ucha Abuladze, bass Stefan Szkafarowsky, and countertenor Jeffrey Palmer.

“This concert will be dedicated to fundraising towards acquiring a shelter for Ukrainians women and children from the East of the country, who are looking for a temporary housing before they move on with their lives,” Portenko told OperaWire.

This is the latest benefit concert that Portenko has been involved with. She was a part of “A Show of Caring: A Benefit Concert for Ukraine” back on March 27, 2022 at Tarrytown Music Hall as well as a recital of Beethoven Sonatas a Weill Recital Hall on March 29, 2022. The two concerts were presented by Music in the Alps, which was founded by Portenko.
