Robert Griffin III thinks the 2022 New York Jets are “stacked” and expects many victories

A former second overall draft pick himself, Robert Griffin III understands the pressure that New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson is under.

With that being said, Griffin has high expectations for Wilson and the Jets in 2022. Griffin is extremely impressed with the moves that the Jets have made throughout the offseason and thinks those acquisitions should translate to a strong win-loss record this season.

“The Jets – I think they have to win 10 games. That’s the bottom line. It’s time. The fans deserve it,” Griffin said on ESPN’s NFL Live.

Griffin went on to gush about the offensive supporting cast that New York has built around the second-year BYU quarterback.

“GM Joe Douglas has put an offense together for Zach Wilson that features Michael Carter, Breece Hall, Garrett Wilson, Elijah Moore, and Corey Davis at wide receiver. Then you bring in C.J. Uzomah and you also have Tyler Conklin at tight end. This roster is stacked offensively.”

Griffin continued to praise New York’s efforts on the defensive side of the ball.

“When you look at them defensively, you bring in Jermaine Johnson and you partner him with Carl Lawson coming off an injury, and Quinnen Williams, mister ‘Bless you, thank you’ himself, and you bring in Sauce Gardner, and also, you get Jordan Whitehead from the Bucs.”

Ultimately, Griffin seems to love what the Jets have done and thinks that it all comes down to Wilson’s development.

“I just look at the Jets and I say they’ve done a great job. And they just need Zach Wilson to get out of the flight simulator. They’re ready for takeoff. He’s got to get in the jet and be the pilot, and be the sole reason they win at least three to four games this year.

“It’s not the end of the world if they don’t win 10 games, but I think they certainly can this year,” Griffin concluded.

Hearing this type of praise from national analysts is certainly a new experience for Jets fans. It has been a long, long time since the team has been such a darling in the eyes of the general public.

Hype doesn’t always translate to success, but it’s promising for Jets fans to hear their team receiving praise from third parties who have no bias toward the team. In previous years, most of the excitement around the Jets has been generated by Jets fans themselves.

Now, even those who live outside of the Jets’ bubble can see something special brewing in Florham Park.

RG 3 is my new favorite commentator! I love Pat Kirwan on Sirius XM. He has us at 6 wins. How cool would it be to have Zach take a leap this year to 29 TDs and 10 ints, 3900 yards. Why not? He has a great line now. great running game, 4 good receivers and 2 very good TE’s. I predict 24 pts a game on average. I love this team!

Definitely agree, I went through the schedule and I thought 10-7. Worst case I thought was 8-9 based on talent. Will see how it goes!

I am a Zach supporter, so I God Willing he continues to progress toward his potential, which think may be a future MVP in this league down the road.

I firmly believe we have a path to 10 wins. 3-3 division. Split w afc north. 3-1 against nfc north. 2-1 against the others.

So many of us are so jaded, most of the beat reporters are downers, and I get it we’ve been bad a long time. But it’s like let’s not concede the season yet…that’s loser stuff. Think positive and hope for the best. If they go 7-10 but play hard and are in every game I’m ok, but after the offseason we’re having why not hope for the best?

I feel really good about the season. I think people are underestimating the impact injuries had on the team last year. We lost 3 of our top 4 playersfrom 2020 for all or the majority of the season (Lawson, Becton and Maye) plus other starters all missed time Joyner, Fant, McGovern, Davis, Moore, Crowder etc and so just adding back some games due to injury and we likely win 6 games last year.

I believe a lot of folks are missing that piece of the equation and because of that I think we should get 7 wins or so in 2022. We can certainly win 8-10 games this year and we are getting most of those players back, plus Tomlinson, Conklin, Uzomah, Dj Reed, Whitehead, J. Martin, S. Thomas, and then Sauce, Wilson, JJ, B Hall, Ruckert, M Mitchell, and M Clemons. Our team is certainly much improved and i can’t wait for 2022 season to start!!
