Two people face charges in Logan County after a deputy responded to a report of a fight involving a gun.
Dmekka Reacheal Meade of Chauncey is charged in connection with the gun and fight, while Roy Austin Walker of Logan is accused of fleeing from the scene, according to criminal complaints filed in Logan County Magistrate Court.
On Thursday, a deputy responded to Switzer Apartments on Jerry West Highway to investigate a report of a fight involving a gun.
The deputy spoke with a woman who said Meade had threatened to shoot her, the complaint said. Court records said during the argument, Meade entered her apartment and came out with a handgun and continued to make threats.
The alleged victim said she was then involved in a physical altercation with Meade and was able to get the gun out of her hand and throw it over an embankment.
According to the complaint, Meade retrieved the gun and placed it under a couch in an apartment. The deputy reported finding the gun underneath the couch.
Video provided by a witness shows Meade carrying a gun and striking the alleged victim with it, the complaint said.
Meanwhile, Walker was arrested after the officer initially responded to the scene and saw him enter the apartment in an attempt to get away from the officer, court records said.
Walker left the apartment from a rear entrance and ran into the woods, and a short time later the deputy found the suspect hiding in a seated position in trash bin in the parking lot of Hatfield’s Market in Switzer, the complaint said.
Meade was charged with assault, battery, brandishing a weapon, wanton endangerment and assault with a firearm during commission of a felony. Walker was charged with fleeing on foot.
Both suspects are currently being held at Southwestern Regional Jail.
