Everyone wins at the Foodnet Mac ‘n Cheese Bowl, but especially these eateries

Everyone’s a winner when Foodnet gets together chefs and cheese and community members to enjoy the combination, but the non-profit organization, which delivers nutritious meals to area residents who need them, has also announced winners of last week’s event.

The seventh annual Mac ‘n Cheese Bowl was canceled days before the event in March 2020, and last year there were about a dozen eateries offering samples at their own locations for a Mac ‘n Cheese Crawl. Last week, the first in-person Foodnet Mac ‘n Cheese Bowl in three years was held at the Ithaca Farmers Market’s Steamboat Landing pavilion.

We were especially impressed by the rich and creamy cheese sauce with sherry on the braised beef mac and cheese from Cornell Catering and McCormick’s, the creative smoked broccoli mac and cheese from Kilpatrick’s, the cold macaroni salad from Smash Bros World Foods, and the locally foraged ramp pesto under the mac and cheese from Silo Food Truck, but of course all of the entries had their charms! Here are the official winners from the community voting, as announced by Foodnet.
