Two children dead after overnight fire in Barron

BARRON Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – Three people, including two children, died in a house fire in Barron overnight. According to the Barron County Sheriff’s Office and Barron police department, it happened on River Avenue around 3:30 a.m.

Six-year-old Emily Albee and 5-year-old Conner Albee were pulled from the house by fire crews but later died of their injuries. The body of their father, 44-year-old Donald Albee, was later found in the house.

The homeowner, 49-year-old Delores Dahlberg was able to escape and was treated on the scene for her injuries. Barron-Maple Grove Fire Chief Mike Romsos commended the fire crews while lamenting the circumstances of the fire.

“Honestly, it makes your heart drop. It really does, especially when there were children involved in it. And i talked to a few of the firefighters and they said, as soon as I come across the page or not, that that should make a difference. But if all of a sudden, it’s a barn fire and there’s nothing in it, they’re going to respond. But this one, you run out the door and don’t look back,” said Romsos.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is currently ongoing.
