Downed Power Line

Norfolk and the surrounding area should have power back after high winds on Wednesday caused severe damage in northeast, north central and central Nebraska.

The Elkhorn Rural Public Power District's corporate communicator Jennifer Adams said those in the Elgin area should have power back. There are still some customers out north and west of Clearwater and crews are being sent from Battle Creek to assist.

Meanwhile, the North Central Public Power District reported extensive damage to the transmission line that feeds its service territory.

NCPD administrative assistant Sherrie Zimmerer reported additional damage throughout a large area and said customers should plan to be without power for 24 hours or more.

If you see a downed power line, please stay away from the power line and report it to North Central PPD at 800-578-1060 or the Elkhorn Public Power District at 800-675-2185.
