Man arrested after crash in Glen Burnie leaves woman dead
A Sykesville man faces multiple charges after a fatal car crash in Glen Burnie left a woman dead and another person injured.Police said they were called around 1 p.m. Thursday to southbound Maryland Route 10 between the Beltway and Ordnance Road, where a Ford Crown Victoria struck Tramellia Nicole Wright, 47, of Glen Burnie.Wright was standing on the shoulder after she had pulled his car over with a flat tire. She and her vehicle were hit, as well as another vehicle that had pulled over to help, police said.Witnesses told police that the Ford was unable to stay in its lane and collided with the woman and the vehicles.Police said officers gave the driver of the Ford a field sobriety test, and after being taken into custody and further testing by a drug recognition expert, the driver was determined to be under the influence and was placed under arrest.Kevin Pickett, 42, of Sykesville, is facing multiple charges including, manslaughter by auto, criminal negligent manslaughter, homicide by motor vehicle impaired by drugs and driving while impaired by drugs. He was not injured.Wright was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver who stopped to help suffered minor injuries and refused medical treatment. The Traffic Safety Division is investigating this incident.
