Two people were sent to area hospitals following a collision that occurred on Highway 80 yesterday just before noon.
According to Russell Springs Police, the accident occurred at around 11:45 a.m. yesterday near the intersection of KY 80 and East Street in Russell Springs.
According to the report, 41-year-old Joey Dykes of Jamestown was operating a 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer westbound on KY 80 when he attempted to make a left turn onto East Street and collided head-on with a 2009 Ford Focus operated by 67-year-old Linda Turner of Russell Springs.
Turner was transported to Russell County Hospital for non life-threatening injuries and a passenger in the car, 84-year-old Mavis Cooper, was transported to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital due to her cardiac history, according to police.
Bobby Pritchard with the Russell Springs Police Department is the investigating officer.
