Parts Of North Central Washington Projected to Have Above Normal Chance of Wildfires by July

It's been a cool and wet spring in North Central Washington, but there's an above normal chance for wildfires in part of the area this summer.

The latest four-month outlook from the National Interagency Fire Center shows a normal chance for wildfires across the state in June.

But the outlook for July shows portions of Chelan, Douglas and Grant County in the above normal category.

By August, the entire region and most of eastern Washington have an above normal chance for wildfires.

Hot and dry conditions in July and August are factors that could contribute to an intense fire season.

The outlook comes from the National Interagency Fire Center, and will be updated on June 1.
