Macy Ely is from Perry, and has been working as a nurse practitioner rotating between the Madison, Taylor and Jefferson County Health Departments since August of 2019. Ely completed some credits at North Florida Community College (NFCC) during high school as a dual-enrolled student before she went to Florida State University (FSU) for her bachelors degree in nursing, which she earned in 2015. Then, in 2019, Ely graduated with her Doctorate of nursing practice from FSU. Prior to working in the tri-county health departments as a provider, Ely worked as a Registered Nurse at Doctor's Memorial Hospital as a surgical nurse in the Operating Room from 2015-2019. Ely is currently a family nurse practitioner, so she sees and treats all ages, from birth to senior adults.
In her free time, Ely loves all things outdoors; fishing, being on the boat, and being in a pool or at the beach. Her husband is Stuart Ely, the assistant principal at Taylor County Middle School. Ely and her husband have an 18-month old daughter named Lexi. Ely always wanted to pursue nursing when she was growing up. As a high school student, she volunteered at DMH and was intrigued by all that nurses can do and the impact they have on so many lives from the best of times to the worst. While she was working in surgery at DMH, Ely felt going back to obtain her doctorate as a nurse practitioner was the best way to enable her to reach and help more people. As a public healthcare worker she has the opportunity to reach some of the most vulnerable populations, which are often underserved and have significant health disparities.
